Overview:

Over 30 authors and poets will meet for a day of literary exploration and cultural celebration

NEW-YORK- More than 30 Haïtian American authors will participate in the New York Haitian Book and Media Day that will give the participants an opportunity to engage with them on April 20. 

Under the theme “Exploring the Diverse Thought and Creativity of Haitian Literature and Media,” this event will serve as a platform for various authors within the Haitian community to engage in a discourse that centers on literature, under the auspices of esteemed sponsors. 

The event, organized by HAFECE and Radio Télévision Haitiana aims to facilitate meaningful and insightful exchanges among Haitian writers, readers, journalists, poets, intellectuals, and artists in Haiti or in the diaspora. 

The event will be held at the Gateway Christian Center in Valley Stream. It will also welcome Lyonel Desmarattes and Darlène Lozis as esteemed guests of honornamong others. Several activities fare scheduled for the day including immersive writing workshops, thought-provoking panel discussions, personal testimonies, and literary tributes. The initiative features poets such as Illéus Papillon, alongside other authors Wilkens Scott Fifi, Manno Ejèn, and Gary S. Daniel. 

Notable author Darly Renois will seize the occasion to unveil his latest collection of poems.

Ralph Delly is an award-winning music and entertainment journalist with extensive experience covering the Haitian Music Industry and the Haitian-American community. He has worked in Haiti and the United States at such media organizations as Radio Metropole, WNWK/107.5 FM, Radio Soleil d’Haïti and The Haitian Time – where he penned the popular “The Delly Dish” gossip column. Dellys has worked with numerous artists in the HMI, including Zin, Lakol, Phantoms, Zenglen, Sokute, Jam, See Well and 509 – to name a few. Delly graduated from Carlos Albizu University of Miami and City College of New York (CUNY)
