CAP-HAITIEN — Dressed in white, thousands of believers filtered through the narrow streets of Cap-Haïtien to commemorate Jesus Christ’s death during the Good Friday Procession on March 29.
Some participants bore rocks atop their heads or carried sackcloth bags, while others held candles or rosaries. A large number of them prayed in front of the Sacré-Coeur Church in Cap-Haïtien, one of the locations where they assembled before the procession. Some worshipers, predominantly women, raised their arms as they immersed themselves in prayer to their God.
The march, which commenced around 11:30 a.m., concluded around 2:30 a.m. at Église Évangélique Mont du Calvaire.
One of the most poignant moments of the procession was when worshippers paused to watch a skit portraying Jesus, adorned in a white robe stained with blood and a crown of leaves, being flogged by Roman soldiers.
Below are some photographs from the Good Friday Procession in Cap-Haïtien.
