The university hospital of Mirebalais received a delegation of journalists, members of the office of the secretary of state for Communication at the hospital which run by the organization Zanmi Lasante / Partners in health. 

The occasion was for the medical management of the HUM to salute the involvement of the hospital, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP), in the fight against Covid-19.

After the words of the Secretary of State for Communication, Eddy Jackson Alexis, the medical director, Pierre Marie Cherenfant, the departmental health director of the Center, Dr Joseph Denis Jean-Baptiste, a panel made up of doctors Ralph Ternier, coordinator of the task force covid-19 by ZanmiLasante, Benoucheka Pierre, chief doctor of the HUM intensive care unit and nurse Marc Julmisse, head of the nursing department, detailed the protocol set up to accommodate and to manage patients infected with the SARS-CoV2 virus.

Recalling Zanmi Lasante’s determination to offer quality care to the population, the nurse Marc Julemisse said that long before the detection of the first cases of the new coronavirus in Haiti, the hospital management had taken all the necessary measures , including measures to strengthen the triage system, to identify potential cases of Covid-19.

According to Dr. Benoucheka Pierre, the Mirebalais University Hospital received the first cases of Covid-19. 

“From March 19 to the present, that makes 32 confirmed patients suffering from coronavirus who were treated at the hospital. Among these patients, 19 had a good clinical, biological and radiological recovery, “said the doctor, adding that 4 patients have unfortunately died and the other 9 are currently hospitalized. Continue reading.
