United Nations Mission for the Support of Justice (UNMIJUSTH) made a positive assessment of its achievements, alongside the Haitian authorities, during the last 18 months spent in the country. 8th Edition of Diaspora Week Held in Dominican Republic

Haiti Ranked 62nd out of 180 Countries on Freedom of Press Worldwide
Reporters Without Borders has published its latest report on freedom of press worldwide. Out of 180 countries taken into account, Haiti is ranked 62nd. Lack of financial resources, lack of support from institutions, difficult access to information, acts of intimidation and aggression, are among the difficulties journalists face in carrying out their job in Haiti according to Reporters Without Borders, le National reports. Television Program Raising Campaign, “Vilaj Kado” is Launched
Je Klere Ayiti Foundation, the Office of Cultural Affairs of the United States Embassy in Haiti and the Office of the First Lady, launched a television program of public education and awareness raising campaign,”Vilaj kado”. Several government officials, members of the diplomatic corps and civil society members were present.
“The future of every country is in the youth. We believe that the culture of civic duty must begin at an early age. We support this creative proposal by Fondasyon Klere Ayiti aimed at reaching the general public on important issues of civic responsibility that will be conveyed through cartoons, ” said Robin Diallo, representative of the American embassy, le Nouvelliste reports. Insecurity Increases in the Commune of Ranquitte
Ranquitte mayor, Edelin Philippe, expresses his deep concern about the rise of insecurity in the area. During the past week, two people were killed with machetes. However, Philippe complains that, in Ranquitte, for a population estimated at nearly 27,000 only two police officers are on duty, with no adequate equipment to carry out their work.
