Haiti and Kenya signed a reciprocity agreement on Friday for 1,000 Kenyan police officers to be deployed in the Multinational Security and Support (MSS) mission against gangs in Haiti.

The Kenyan High Court had made signing the agreement a requirement for both countries to move past the blockade imposed by the Kenyan judiciary in January. Haiti’s Minister of Environment James Cadet and the Secretary of the Cabinet of the Interior Kithure Kindiki signed the documents in Nairobi, in the presence of Kenyan President William Ruto and Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
