MONTROUIS, Haiti — Heavily-armed, hoodie-wearing bandits vandalized and looted a well-known hotel along Côtes des Arcadins last week, bringing the gang-style crime so prevalent in the capital to the strip of resorts.

The hoodlums struck the Wahoo Bay Beach Hotel overnight on Mar. 15 to 16, lifting equipment, televisions, beds and mattresses, among various items, according to employees speaking after the plunder while publishing the images of the places on social networks. Security guards at the hotel were powerless against the armed invaders, and employees and customers fled to a nearby public beach for safety.
