‘Sweet Micky For President’ Documentary Hits Theaters In November

By Sherley Boursiquot

Sweet Micky For President documentary is based on Haiti’s 2010 presidential election which shows Pras Michel, Grammy award-winning rapper and founder of the hip-hop group, The Fugees, returning to his homeland (Haiti) after the devastating January 2010 earthquake — with a magnitude of 7.0 resulting in more than 300,000 deaths. The country was in complete chaos after a quarter of a million homes were obliterated. Pras, having no experience or money, helped mobilize a presidential campaign for the controversial famous musician: Michel Martelly aka “Sweet Micky,” which Haitians have had a love-and-hate relationship with over the years.
