Social services groups concerned about resources to serve asylum seekers

These Haitian-American organizations, in turn, are taking the lead in a variety of efforts to help the thousands of asylum seekers who began arriving in South Florida, New York City, many other Haitian enclaves and even some with smaller Haitian groups over the last two weeks. Currently, the primary focus is on providing for the asylum seekers’ basic needs and legal services. Even though it is early, the social services leaders fear that they will not have enough hands on deck to assist the asylum seekers.
