Kenneth Cole Extends Partnership with Haitian Fashion Brand

A world-famous fashion designer and sustainable Haitian fashion brand continue to work together to end poverty.

Designer and activist Kenneth Cole has extended his company’s partnership with Deux mains designs, an environmentally friendly Haitian-led social enterprise that provides living-wage income for its sandal makers. Deux mains designs is partly supported by its non-profit counterpart REBUILD globally in Orlando, Florida. REBUILD globally provides marketing and sales support while also scaling the education and capacity-building community programs in Haiti. Its vision is to fight poverty through job creation for and empowerment of impoverished Haitian individuals.

Haiti Fashion Week Well Underway

With the theme “Nourrir Haiti” (Feed Haiti), Haiti Fashion Week 2015 transformed Karibe Hotel this weekend into the place to be for Haitian designers and fashion lovers.

The fourth annual fashion event opened Thursday with a morning press conference followed by a pre-runway show introduction by guest-of-honor Stella Jean later that evening.

Fourth Annual Haiti Fashion Week Begins

PORT-AU-PRINCE– The fourth edition of Haiti Fashion Week kicked off today at Karibe Hotel, with the theme Nourrir Haiti (Nurture Haiti).

More than 40 designers from the Caribbean, the United States and Dominican Republic will showcase their collections from Nov. 5 to Nov. 8.

Haiti Fashion Week begins on Nov. 5 with the theme this year Nourrir Haïti (Nurture Haiti).

France, which is well known for its mega fashions houses, and is a reference in international fashion, is the country of honor this year. It will be represented by a cross section of professionals. The guest of honor is prominent Haitian-Italian designer Stella Jean.

Designer Vicki Sylvain Wins First Ever PowerUp Kreyol Business Plan Competition

The PowerUp! Kreyol Business Plan Competition announced it’s first ever winner on Monday, Sept. 28 and she’s from the fashion world!. Vicki Sylvain, designer of the Shoe-B, snagged the $5,000 grand prize followed by 2nd and 3rd place winners Nathalie Guillaume of Healing Happy Hour, and Hardy Hyppolite of Kreyol Kwizin. Sylvain was one out of 14 contestants vying for the prize.
