On May 5 and May 6, the Miami Book Fair (MBF) will host the annual Little Haiti Book Festival (LHBF) at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. The festival, which features vibrant cultural exposure to writers, booksellers, performers, and more, is part of MBF’s Read Caribbean programming. This event is free and open to the public.
After a five-month battle, West Palm Beach, Florida, has settled a lawsuit with the federal government complying to the federal immigration policy, announced West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio. In March of 2017, the Floridian city’s commission declared it was a “welcoming city,” which many inferred to mean a sanctuary city.

On March 23, 5th Street between Euclid Avenue and Lenox Avenue in Miami-Dade County was designated Joseph Emmanuel “Manno” Charlemagne Street. The bill to name the street after the late Haitian singer was co-sponsored by Senator Daphne Campbell, a Haitian American legislator who represents the 38th Senate District.
MIAMI, FL — The 20th Ultra Music Festival might have been the premier event Friday night in Miami,but just a few miles north of Bayfront Park, a more mature group of kids and families compared to the teens and twenty-somethings further south took in the sounds of Haitian konpa music at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex in Miami.
On March 25 Michael Brun hosted a star-studded lineup at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex for his Bayo Block Party concert. Performers included DJ Gardy Girault Paul Beaubrun, J-Perry, Princess Eud, T-Micky, Sandro Martelly and a surprise appearance by former Haiti president, Michel Martelly.
