Haitian Nonprofit Hosts Fundraiser To Raise Funds For Water Project

ECLAT Haiti Inc. hosted a fundraising event on Sunday night at Hollywood Live, Florida, to raise money for their Water Project in Cotes-de-Fer.

We want to create a system where relationships can be built between farmers helping each other cultivate and sell crops, said Mackendy Talon, ECLAT’s president, who is also known as Haitian musician Mac D.One of ECLAT’s main focuses is enriching Haiti’s agriculture and helping make water accessible to those who need it the most.

Rodneyse Bichotte Comes Under Fire For Stance Against Governor’s Education Tax Bill

Brooklyn Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte came under intense criticism from a segment of the Jewish community this past week after a radio interview, where she voiced her fierce opposition for Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed education tax credit.

“Bichotte inflamed the Orthodox community by referring to Jews as ‘you guys’ complaining about ‘Jewish’ money behind the tax credit effort,” according to a statement placed on defeatbichotte.com. The website, defeatbichotte.com, was created by a newly-formed organization seeking the Assemblywoman’s demise.

In the days following Bichotte’s interview with Leon Goldenberg, on the ‘Community Matters’ radio program, advocates of the Parental Choice in Education Act, launched political action committee “Defeat Bichotte PAC” aimed at “ensuring the defeat of Rodneyse Bichotte.”

Last week the Haiti’s Center for the Facilitation of Investments (CFI) and Association of Industries of Haiti signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Inter-American Development Bank to ensure support in renewing the existing duty-free trade agreement with the United States.
