PORT-AU-PRINCE — To many Haitians, dance, as a practice, is not a profession to be taken up for a living. Still, many women chose to make it their profession, managing to eke out a living through shows, festivals, troupes and other performance opportunities.

As Haiti continues to freefall, some women who chose the field are now finding that  the lack of festive activities and prevalence of violence are lowering their earnings. Similar to scores of women in other sectors who’ve seen earnings dwindle as the country continues to freefall..
