PORT-AU-PRINCE — At least 60 people were killed and another 50 have been kidnapped, including a police official and his daughter, in a resurgence of gang warfare over the past week around Haiti’s capital, according to a human rights advocate and local media. The slew of shootings and kidnappings in various neighborhoods have forced hundreds of residents to flee their homes and schools to shutter their doors.
Jean Robert Argant, the general coordinator of the “December 4th Collective” anti-violence advocacy organization, said that the bandits act with impunity because they see fit that the police are unable to fight back.
Overview:
Since last week, residents in neighborhoods like Solino, Fort National, Poupelard, have been fleeing with their children, and their measly belongings in tow as the war between the Bel-Air gang and "Krache Dife" broke out yet again.
