United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres announced on Wednesday the appointment of María Isabel Salvador of Ecuador as his Special Representative for Haiti and Head of the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti (BINUH).

Salvador will succeed Helen Meagher La Lime of the United States whose controversial tenure in Haiti will come to an end later this month  after spending approximately three years in this position.
