PORT-AU-PRINCE — A former prime minister of Haiti, Gérard Latortue, died in Florida on Monday at age 88. 

"PM Gérard Latortue served his country with dignity, passion and love," said former Prime Minister Claude Joseph. "A man of compromise, but above all a statesman who organized, as he had promised, credible and transparent elections."
