PORT-AU-PRINCE — A Haitian National Police (PNH) special unit regained control of the L’Estère police station Feb. 23 after a local gang attacked the precinct, causing officers to flee for their lives. 

Police officials said the town had been without law enforcement support since the attack on the station by the “Kokorat San Ras” gang the previous day. Six officers fled the precinct when backup and reinforcements requested failed to come in time.
