Canada will deploy maritime vessels to Haiti in the coming weeks to conduct surveillance, gather information and maintain a maritime presence to help the Caribbean nation fight gangs, Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Thursday.

Trudeau also said that Canada will pour $CAD 12.3 million, or about $USD 9 million, to Haiti in humanitarian assistance and another $CAD 10 million, or about $USD 7 million, to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to help migrants in Haiti.
