For the first time, the National Haitian American Elected Officials Network (NHAEON) is holding its annual conference in the northeast. Among its key sessions are a workshop dedicated to youth, the group’s vice-chairperson Mary Estimé-Irvin said.

About two dozen teenagers are among the 300 participants expected at NHAEON’s 14th annual retreat in Weehawken, New Jersey, Jan. 27 to Jan. 29. The youngsters will learn about civic engagement and take part in a mock election, Estimé-Irvin said.
