A caravan of several thousand asylum seekers began a weeks-long trek across southern Mexico, some bound for Mexico City and others toward the United States border. Most are Central Americans, but some Haitians have been spotted among the group that set off Oct. 23, according to The Washington Post.

Aware of the possible arrival of another influx, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB) said it is prepared, though it did not offer details.
