In the aftermath of the devastating 7.2 earthquake that hit Haiti’s southwest peninsula on August 14, 2021, the Église de Dieu in Levine has been reduced to rubble. Worshipers in Maniche gathered for a prayer service in the church’s courtyard, mourning the loss of a seven-year-old girl who tragically died when a wall of the church collapsed on her during the earthquake.

Pastor Garry François expressed his grief and explained that all the churches and houses in Lévine, Maniche have been destroyed. With no other option, the pastor conducted the service outside. The quake, which was felt as far away as Jamaica, has left the community in shock and mourning as they struggle to rebuild their homes and their lives.
