Within hours of updated Temporary Protected Status (TPS) guidelines being published on July 30, the Brooklyn office of Haitian Americans United for Progress was “bombarded” with phone calls for application assistance, said Herold “Roro” Dasque, a community liaison for the nonprofit.
“Everybody was waiting on where to send the application,” said Dasque. “There’s an extension for Haitians due to the fact of the assassination of the president.”
