An ex-mayor of Grande Saline, a commune in the Artibonite Department, died in a car crash in Belladère, a commune in the Central Department, officials with the National Federation of Mayors (FENAMH) said Tuesday.

Jean Samuel Jusmé was the treasurer of the Association of Mayors in Artibonite and had participated in FENAMH events. The crash occurred March 31. Source

Lottery employees not paid in 3 months, leader says

The head of the Lottery of the Haitian State (LEH) said the government has not paid the agency’s employees in three months. 

General director Margareth Fortuné made the statement during a press conference Tuesday, the 94-year anniversary of LEH. The agency didn’t celebrate this year due to the ongoing violence across the country, Fortuné said. Source

Kidnapping cases drop in March

The number of kidnapping cases being registered dropped from 60 in February to 27 in March, according to the Crime Observation Unit of the Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH).

Of those reported kidnapped, two were killed while being held captive. Source
