With every passing week, Barcelona‘s Lionel Messi seems to hit another landmark or break a new record. 

While you only need to watch Messi play to know that he’s one of the greatest footballers of all time, it’s always worth looking at his incredible statistics to underline that fact.

We’ve taken a look at 100 of the records that Messi has equalled or broken while playing for Barcelona – there are plenty more from his time with Argentina, too…

Barcelona records 

– Since making his first-team debut against Espanyol in October 2004, Messi has made another 767 appearances for Barcelona. He’s now surpassed former team-mate Xavi to become their highest all-time appearance maker.

– He is their top appearance maker in La Liga (511) and the Copa del Rey (79).

– Unsurprisingly, Messi is also Barcelona’s all-time leading goalscorer with 663 goals in those 768 appearances.

– He’s their top goalscorer in La Liga (467), the Champions League (120 goals) and European competitions (123).

– During his 17 seasons at Barcelona, he has won 34 titles for the club, which is more than any other player. He’ll be hoping to make that 36 by the end of 2020-21. 

– The forward has won more La Liga matches for Barcelona (379) than any other player.

– He’s been on the winning side for Barcelona a record 537 times in all competitions. 

– No player has scored more Barcelona hat-tricks than Messi (48).

– No player has scored more Barcelona hat-tricks in La Liga than Messi (36).

– He’s the only Barcelona player to have ever scored eight hat-tricks in a single La Liga season. 

– No player has scored more Barcelona free-kicks than Messi (47).

– He holds the record for the most home goals scored by a Barcelona player in a single season after netting 46 in 2011–12.

– Messi is the first Barcelona player to be the top goalscorer in four or more La Liga seasons (currently seven and counting). 

– In 2011-12, Messi became the first Barcelona player to have scored and assisted in six different official competitions in one season.

– Messi scored 14 Champions League goals in 2011-12, more than any Barcelona player has ever managed in a single season.

– No Barcelona player has scored more than his 25 goals in the Catalan derby against Espanyol.
