Lionel Messi scored his 19th goal of the season in La Liga at the weekend as Barcelona defeated Sevilla 2-0.
The Argentine is currently on a marvellous goalscoring run, and has now netted the same amount of goals in the league as his perennial rival Cristiano Ronaldo, who also scored at the weekend as Juventus could only manage a 1-1 draw with Verona.
The two megastars continue to be a ray of light in bleak campaigns for Barcelona and Juventus.
Joining the famous twosome on 19 goals and 38 points in the race for the European Golden Shoe is Eintracht Frankfurt’s Andre Silva. He scored, but was on the losing side after Werder Bremen defeated Frankfurt 2-1.
Kylian Mbappe is now just one goal behind those three as he scored two at the weekend for PSG, taking his tally to 18 for the campaign, on par with Inter’s Romelu Lukaku who scored again.
Paul Onuachu of Genk and Georgios Giakoumakis of Venlo continue to bang in the goals to make the leaderboard, with only competition weightings keeping them from higher spots. Continue reading
