
Arnel Joseph, a gang leader arrested in July 2019, said he was working for both government officials and people in the opposition who frequently paid him in American currency. Joseph made the statements during an interrogation at the Court of Instruction Jan. 25, according to TripFoumi Enfo.
Joseph was the most widely-known gang leader in Haiti before his arrest. He was suspected in numerous kidnappings, murder cases, carjackings and other criminal acts. Senator and singer Gracia Delva was accused of participating in one of Joseph’s kidnappings. Source
Haiti goes on strike

Haitians started their first day of strike on Monday to condemn the kidnapping crisis and demand again that President Jovenel Moise leave office on Feb. 7.
The streets were nearly empty, most businesses and schools were closed.
Tuesday is the second and last day of the strike. Source
