Liverpool are yet to score a league goal in 2021 with their attacking trio misfiring on all fronts.
The Reds suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Burnley at Anfield on Thursday night leaving them six points behind Premier League leaders Manchester United.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have now failed to score for four straight games as their attacking problems come to a head.
And the German manager has already been told that a goalscoring midfielder could provide the solution to his problems.
Back in November, with the goals starting to dry up, Reds legend Jamie Carragher dissected the issue being faced by Klopp.
He pointed to the fact that Diogo Jota could help ease the goal burden on Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah by being included ahead of Roberto Firmino.
With Jota sidelined, the goals have dried up – and that has highlighted the other issue noticed by Carragher: the lack of a goalscoring midfielder.
And whilst Jota is set to return in the next few weeks, that is an issue Klopp could look to address in the January transfer window as he searches for a solution.
