Mauricio Pochettino is coming into the role of being Paris Saint-Germain’s new manager with high expectations. This is a PSG team that is coming off of a run to the UEFA Champions League final last season. And over this season, the side has had inconsistent results to go along with its current third-place standing in Ligue 1.
But in just his third game with the team, Pochettino will have the opportunity to ease off some pressure.
PSG is slated to take on Olympique de Marseille in the Trophee des Champions final on January 13. This is France’s version of the super cup final, which is relatively common across the continent. This final pits the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France winners from the previous season. But since PSG won both trophies last season, Marseille gets the spot in the final due to its second-place finish in the league table last season.
