(This article is a paid post)

As for the other games, over 2.5 goals sounds reasonable as well, as the clubs involved have a good attacking record.

Some try to downplay the Portuguese Liga NOS, claiming it is merely a Farmers league, meaning that every player dreams of playing in a top-tier European League such as the English Premier League, or even across the border with Spain.

However, even though some of these claims have some truth to it, the fact is that the Liga NOS is amongst the best in the world.

Emerging powers such as Braga, Boavista and Santa Clara are amongst the clubs we will provide match predictions for today.

It is also important to mention that this article wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for our author, Kate Richardson, who did the toughest part of web researching and analysing the matchups we are about to cover. You can see more on her here.

Belenenses – Braga

Belenenses and Braga will face each other this Sunday, at Estadio do Jamor, in Matchday 9 in the Liga NOS.

Belenenses come from a 0-0 draw against Boavista and sit 12th in the table, with eight points. Braga, on the other hand, won their sixth consecutive victory, beating Farense 1-0, and kept the second place, with the same 18 points of Benfica and four from leader Sporting.

This Thursday, Carlos Carvalhal’s men stamped their passport for the next round of the Europa League, beating AEK Athens 2-4. Will Braga be able to add three more points or will Belenenses stop the offensive impetus of the away team?

  • Braga have won eight of their last ten games.
  • Braga comes from six consecutive wins in Liga NOS.
  • Belenenses have gone blank in two of their last three home games.

We foresee a game dominated by Braga. A victory for them should be the most reasonable pick for landing a winner in that game.

Rio Ave – Boavista

Rio Ave will host Boavista this Sunday, at Vila do Conde, in MD9 of the Liga NOS. The home team is in ninth position, on ten points, and comes from a 2-0 defeat at Gil Vicente, having failed to qualify for the League Cup.

Boavista are in 16th, with seven points, the same as the penultimate place, Marítimo, and only two more than rock bottom Farense.

In the last round, Boavista drew 0-0 with Belenenses, and continued with only one triumph in eight games.

  • In four of Rio Ave’s last five games there have been less than 2.5 goals.
  • In the last two games of Boavista there have been less than 2.5 goals.
  • In the last three games between the two teams there have been less than 2.5 goals.

Rio Ave defends well and Boavista has improved this aspect. We predict an outcome with less than 2.5 goals.

Nacional Madeira – Santa Clara

On MD9 of the Liga NOS, Santa Clara will visit Nacional on Sunday at the Madeira Stadium, in Funchal

The two teams reached this round tied in the league table, both with ten points, occupying the seventh and eighth place, respectively. The Madeirans lost in the last round at Portimonense, by 1-0, having only won one of the last five games.

The Azoreans, on the other hand, lost 0-1 to FC Porto and registered their fourth defeat in the last five matches.

Nacional have yet to lose as visitors, registering one win and three draws so far. The Azoreans have already won two of the four days as visitors.

This will only be the fifth confrontation between the two clubs in Madeira, with the hosts in slight advantage, with two victories, against only one of Santa Clara. Who will win this time?

  • In two of Nacional’s four matches at their stadium, there were more than 2.5 goals.
  • In two of Santa Clara’s four games away from home, there were more than 2.5 goals.
  • In the four clashes between them in Sao Miguel there were more than 2.5 goals.

Nacional have only lost two of the eight games so far, and as a visiting team they are one of the best attacks, with six goals. Santa Clara, on the other hand, is going through its worst phase of the season, but it is as a visitor that it scores the most points, six ten ten. Bet on a game with more than 2.5 goals.

Conclusion

Closing it up, we know that some punters don’t like doing less than x goals, as they feel they are kinda supporting anti-football. However, Rio Ave vs Boavista seems to be one of the games that’s likely to have less than 2.5 goals, so Kate’s punt should absolutely be taken into consideration.

As for the other games, over 2.5 goals sounds reasonable as well, as the clubs involved have a good attacking record.
