A 22-year-old high school senior was found dead at a garbage dump site in Delmas 24 on Sunday morning, three days after being kidnapped.

The kidnappers had asked for a 500,000 gourdes ($7932.52) ransom to release Evelyne Sincère. Her older sister raised 75,000 gourdes ($1189.88) but the bandits rejected the lower amount.

Sincère had been beaten and by the look of her body it appears as if she was sexually assaulted when she was found, said Jean Flaury Raymond, a judge of peace.

At least seven people were reported kidnapped in Port-au-Prince in the past three weeks. Sincère was the only woman. Four were released. Two others, Pastor Éniel Afred and his son, are still being held captive on an $800,000 ransom after being kidnapped in Carrefour on Sunday. Source
