Although state teachers haven’t reported to class since school reopened in August, state exams started for ninth graders on Monday.

Haiti’s state teachers have been on strike for better pay since August. The students took to the streets as well to ask that teachers return to class. The student protest led to many confrontations between them and the authorities.

On Monday, the students began the annual evaluation with the french and experimental science exam. On Tuesday, they take the creole, english and social studies exam.

The state exams will end on Wednesday with the math and spanish tests. Source
