In a rather unique transfer window situation, Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira has undergone his medical examination with Atletico Madrid, without confirmation that the transfer will definitely go through.

The Uruguayan passed all the necessary tests without any problems, however it remains the case that before Los Colchoneros can complete the signing, they must let another two players leave the club.

Andrea Berta, the club’s sporting director, negotiated an initial one-year loan deal with Arsenal, although there is an embedded purchase option within the contract set at around 20 million euros.

Atleti must find destinations for two players, most likely to be Hector Herrera and Thomas Lemar, before Monday’s deadline if Torreira is able to wear the club’s shirt and not just a sponsored mask. Continue reading
