The United States’ President Donald Trump tweeted early Friday that he and his wife, Melania Trump both tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Haitians’ reactions on social media ranged from cautionary to jocular.
“Now the elder is lying so he doesn’t go to the second debate. Next, you’re going to hear that Jovenel Moïse was tested positive too,” Alain Jean, a Limbé — a commune in the Northern Department — resident, wrote on Facebook.
“I wish the president and his family well. And I must add that the first family should have been more careful with this deadly virus,” Claude R. Craan wrote on Twitter.
