Haiti has not recorded a confirmed case of the novel coronavirus for the first time since the virus reached the country on March 19, officials said on Sunday.

Patrick Dély, Haiti’s Ministry of Public Health and Population (MSPP) Director of Epidemiology Laboratory and Research, was thrilled but he warned the population to be vigilant.

“We have to stay cautious though,” Dély said. “Since the number of cases dropped in recent weeks, we expected a day without any confirmed cases, it is normal at this stage.”

Haiti has recorded 8,740 confirmed cases, 6,757 recoveries and 227 deaths. Source
