One American dollar went from being equivalent to 120 gourdes in August to 60 gourdes when exchanged outside of banks and 67.50 gourdes in the banking system, according to the Republic of Haiti Bank (BRH).

BRH Consultant Eddy Labossiere said the goal is to have one American dollar equal to 25 gourdes.

On a related note, the price of some products remains the same or increased. Therefore, the people from overseas who support relatives or friends in Haiti have had to increase the amount of money they spend, according to Le Nouvelliste. Source
