Barcelona beat Villarreal 4-0 at the Camp Nou on Sunday night, but there was one clear star of the show: Ansu Fati.
The 17-year-old has what it takes to succeed Lionel Messi on Barcelona’s throne, and what is incredible is that he has already been a part of the first-team setup for 13 months.
Ansu Fati made his debut on August 25, 2019, as he came on in the 78th minute against Real Betis, but it was one matchday later that he opened his Barcelona account, doing so against Osasuna.
One week later, the forward was once again on the scoresheet, this time against Valencia.
It was clear that Ansu Fati was taking advantage of the faith placed in him by Ernesto Valverde, who gradually increased the teenager’s minutes on the pitch.
In the end, he finished the season with a record of eight goals – seven in LaLiga Santander and one in the Champions League – while he was one of the few bright spots for a Barcelona side that, in general, underwhelmed. Continue reading
