
Chief Inspector Sébatien Jean Charles appointed Berson Soljour as head administrator of the Haitian National Police (PNH) on Tuesday.
Soljour is the Artibonite and Grand’Anse Department’s former general director. In 2018, he notably denounced the chief inspector at the time, Ralph Stanley Jean Brice, for violating PNH regulations.
Soljour replaces Mario Aubergiste as head administrator.
PNH has been embattled in the surge of protests and killings over the summer months, with police officers frequently clashing and tear-gassing demonstrators and holding rallies themselves that turned violent. Continue reading
