Due to coronavirus concerns, the West Indian American Day Parade was canceled this year. That did not stop people from celebrating Carnival on their own, during Labor Day weekend. Residents of Central Brooklyn kept Carnival traditions alive in Prospect Park, and vendors throughout the neighborhood sold flags and apparel.

The West Indian American Day Carnival Association (WIADCA) also hosted two virtual events over the weekend: a music festival on Sept. 4 and a “One Love” Virtual Road celebration on Labor Day, Sept. 7.
