While Paris Saint-Germain was in Portugal for the resumption of the UEFA Champions League knockout stage, the board used the valuable time there to discuss the future of one its superstar forwards.
PSG’s board held two meetings in Lisbon, Portugal with Neymar’s father, Neymar Sr., to talk about the future of the Brazilian forward, according to a report from the Brazilian-based outlet UOL. The Brazilian forward is set to become a free agent in 2022, but PSG is adamant about extending his current deal. UOL’s report does not provide details as to whether a contract extension deal was offered to Neymar or if he is thoroughly interested in prolonging his stay with the club.
Neymar does seem content with his PSG tenure. Before the team’s clash against Atalanta in the Champions League knockout stage, Neymar expressed great satisfaction over his current run with the club.
For now, PSG is on a short break as it will not play until its Ligue 1 opener against Lens next month. It will be interesting to see if the club will use this time to hold more contract extension talks with Neymar’s camp. Continue reading
