Luis Suarez ‘could make a sensational return to Ajax’ as the Dutch club line up an ambitious move for the Barcelona striker with his future uncertain after stunning Champions League defeat

Luiz Suarez could be set for a shock return to Ajax, with the Dutch club reportedly planning an ambitious move to sign the striker.

The Uruguayan’s future at the Nou Camp is uncertain following the club’s embarrassing 8-2 defeat by  in the .

And with the Barcelona squad likely to be torn apart, Suarez could be let go as he has just has 12 months left on his contract.

Now have reported that his former club Ajax are preparing an offer to bring Suarez back to the club.

The 33-year-old spent three-and-a-half seasons at the club after joining in the summer of 2007. He left to join Liverpool in January, 2011.

During that time the prolific striker scored a staggering 111 goals in 159 matches for the Dutch giants.

Signing Suarez would be a huge move for the club despite his recent injury troubles in Spain.

Ajax have already seen some success in 

bringing back a veteran striker – Klass-Jan Huntelaar – in recent seasons, but re-signing Suarez would be seen as a massive coup for a club who reached the semi-finals of last season’s Champions League.
