United States Assist Haiti Police
Haiti’s police (PNH) general director Rameau Normil met with the United States’ Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL)’s director David Mosby to discuss how they can improve the cops’ performances against gang violence and kidnapping.
INL also donated equipment of protection to the police department and supplies to the penitentiaries’ administration so they can slow the spread of the novel coronavirus in Haiti’s prisons. Continue reading
Judge of Peace Assaulted Clerk with Pistol
A judge of peace, Wilfrid Larivière, physically abused a clerk, Yolette Florent, in Port-au-Prince with a pistol because she supports the clerks’ strike for salary increase. Soon after the incident, Larivière was summoned to the Directory of Judicial Inspection.
“The technical secretary of the Superior Council of the Judicial Power hereby informs you that you are summoned to the Directory of Judicial Inspection on Friday, August 14 at 12:30 p.m. in order to provide an explanation for the serious accusation against you,” Jean Robert Constant, the technical secretary of the Superior Council of the Judicial Power, said.

Canada Donated 300,000 Canadian Dollars to Haitian Organizations for COVID-19 Battle
Canada donated 300,000 dollars of their currency to four Haitian organizations who are fighting against the novel coronavirus, Care Haïti, Fanm Deside, Kay Fanm, and Neges Mawon.
This amount of money is more than a double of the yearly fund Canada usually gives to Haiti. The Canadian government congratulated the four organizations selected for their commitment during the coronavirus pandemic.
“These new Haitian partners will keep fighting against the pandemic in the upcoming months in order to keep the community sensitized, help and protect them,” the Canadian Embassy wrote in a note. Continue reading
