Napoli are closing on the £22million signing of Gabriel Magalhaes, and are believed to have agreed personal terms for the Lille defender.
And that will clear the way for Manchester City to move for Senegal international Kalidou Koulibaly, who has been their prime target all summer.
The fee could yet be a sticking point, with the Italian club said to be demanding around £62million for the 29-year-old – which would equal City’s club record, paid for Rodri last summer.
City value the player at around £55million, but the news on Magalhaes should stiffen their resolve, as Napoli would need to fund his purchase with the proceeds from Koulibaly’s sale. Continue reading
