President Jovenel Moise has sent letters to the nine sectors of the civil society that appoint members of the Provisional Electoral Council to confirm or appoint another representative on the board.
Moise is looking to reorganize the body, known by its French acronym, CEP, ahead of the next municipal, legislative and presidential elections.

“With a view to the next elections, the presidency has already written to the sectors which have sent representatives to the CEP to ask them to confirm or appoint another representative to the Provisional Electoral Council,” said Guichard Doré, special advisor to the president. “Generally, it would take at least 12months for the organization of the elections according to the experts,” added the president’s special adviser, saying that the elections will be held next year.Continue reading.
