The Spain midfielder has won seven Bundesliga titles in succession in Bavaria, but with just one year left on his deal, has withdrawn from contract talks as he contemplates a potential Premier League move

Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara’s future is up in the air amid stalled contract talks with the German champions.

And according to reports in Germany, he is keen to join Liverpool as he seeks a new challenge after seven years in Bavaria.

The Spain star has just one year left on his deal at the Allianz Arena.

Negotiations over new terms for the ex-Barcelona playmaker – who moved in 2013 when Pep Guardiola arrived – have been ongoing for some time and looked to be sorted in early May.

It was claimed that it was only a matter of time before he put pen-to-paper and joined the likes of Manuel Neuer and Alphonso Davies in signing fresh terms.

But that deal has remained unsigned, with Thiago recently missing action due to injury and Leon Goretzka playing an increasingly pivotal role in proceedings alongside Joshua Kimmich at the base of midfield.   Continue reading
