Richarlison has claimed that there are better defenders in the world than Virgil van Dijk and the Everton forward has reminded the Liverpool centre-back that he is one of the few players to have dribbled past him.
Liverpool can take a step closer to winning the Premier League title this weekend as their campaign resumes with a match against their Merseyside rivals at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Van Dijk has enjoyed another impressive season with Liverpool and has played a key role in the club’s push for the Premier League trophy.
But Richarlison does not consider the Netherlands international to be the standout player in his position in world football, claiming that Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos are all better.
When asked about Van Dijk in an interview with Desimpedidos, Richarlison replied: ‘People talk a lot about him, yes he is a great defender but I’ve already dribbled past him.
‘He was chosen as one of the top three in the world as he had an excellent season.
‘But yes, for me there are better defenders.’
When asked to name who are better than Van Dijk, Richarlison replied: ‘Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos.’ Continue reading
