Napoli won their sixth Coppa Italia trophy, matching Fiorentina in fifth place in the all-time charts, in the first penalty shoot-out Final since 2009.The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes against Juventus and, as per the format change, extra time was scrapped for the two teams to go direct to penalties.

The Coppa Italia hadn’t been decided from the spot since 2009, when Lazio got the better of Sampdoria in a shoot-out.

This is the sixth success for Napoli, who catch Fiorentina in fifth place, leaving behind Milan and Torino on five.

Juventus remain the most successful side in the tournament’s history with 13 editions, although they have now also lost six Finals.  Continue reading
