Atletico Madrid put five past Osasuna on Wednesday night to move back into fourth place in La Liga and stake their claim for a Champions League place, but it was at the other end of the pitch where history was made as goalkeeper Jan Oblak kept his 100th league clean sheet.

The Slovenian stopper has not only reached the century milestone, he has got there faster than any other goalkeeper in La Liga history, shattering the previous record held by Miguel Reina, who played for Barcelona and Atletico in the 1960s and 1970s.

Oblak’s 100th La Liga clean sheet came in his 182nd appearance in the competition. Reina’s now broken record for 100 clean sheets stood at 222 games. Other legendary goalkeepers in Andoni Zubizarreta and Victor Valdes got to 100 clean sheets in 227 and 248 games respectively.  Continue reading
