The case hadn’t made a big splash just to keep the investigation in check. Once the investigation was completed, the Government Commissioner to the Port-au-Prince Court of First Instance, magistrate Jacques Lafontant, ordered the arrest of Hérold Nicolas, the chief accountant of the Economic and Social Assistance Fund from 2017 to December 10, 2019.
Nicolas has been in jail since Wednesday for over-billing and stealing money for two years for certain projects run by FAES. The complaint against the former chief accountant was filed by the institution’s current CEO, Charles E Chatelier.
