Valencia hired Albert Celades as coach to replace Marcelino, but his contract only runs until June 2021 and he has had an up-and-down time of it so far, leading to speculation that Unai Emery and Los Che could be headed for a reconciliation.

The future at the Spanish club is unknown, with sales, budgetary adjustments and possible European qualification still to be determined.

Valencia are a club where things are kept very close to the chest, even more so since the arrival of Peter Lim and Meriton, and it’s difficult to know just what their plan for the next project at Mestalla is.

Emery has been unemployed since he was dismissed by Arsenal earlier in the 2019/20 season and he has close family ties in the city, as well as having been in charge at Valencia previously between 2008 and 2012.
