While Chelsea loanee Tiémoué Bakayoko was arguably one of AS Monaco’s best players in the now-cancelled Ligue 1 season, Monaco will not take up their €42m buy-option, partly due to the pandemic, but also due to the club’s poor season, wherein they finished 9th and out of next season’s Champions League.

Perennially-interested PSG have been linked with a move for the 25-year-old, and are said to have even contacted his representatives, but apparently he sits behind Wilfried Ndidi and Thomas Partey on their wishlist.

However, as per a report from France Football, a new exit route might have just opened. Sevilla are also interested in the midfielder’s services, and with the club in strong position to qualify for next season’s Champions League — they currently sit 3rd in La Liga — they are optimistic about their chances of signing him.

Sevilla’s midfield is stacked at the moment, but long-serving Ever Banega is leaving the club at the end of the season and moving to Al-Shabab, which creates a void that will need to be filled. While Sevilla are currently waiting for a decision regarding the fate of the La Liga season due to the pandemic, once they’re assured of European football next season, it’s stated that they would accelerate negotiations with Chelsea.
