According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport and Tuttosport (via Football Italia), AC Milan are trying to change the course of future history with Gianluigi Donnarumma, who’s widely expected to leave in the next transfer window.

Their grand plan is to offer the young goalkeeper a new contract with a short-term duration, just so they do not lose him in the upcoming transfer window (and/or ensure that proper compensation is received).

Donnarumma has been named as one of Chelsea’s targets for the goalkeeper position, although that might have changed thanks to recent claims that Kepa Arrizabalaga will be stating at Stamford Bridge thanks to a lack of action in the market. Others are keeping track of Donnarumma as well of course, including Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.

To avoid losing him without a proper replacement, Milan are offering Donnarumma an extra year on his current deal, extending it from 2021 to 2022. But they’re apparently doing that at a lower wage point (€5m per year instead of €6m). Continue reading…
